About Cloud Base

Our home is owned by Anthony and Mikiko Maika – One of the nicest homes on the island. It is our responsibility to take care of it and treat it as if it were our own. We take care of all the maintenance and home improvements and perform daily “Ship Shape” chores in order to keep it clean and organized.

Our water comes from a water catchment system that is only filled when it rains. We are very careful about how we use water, we never waste water because we don’t know when we will get rain.

We take “sailor” showers. This means you get in, get wet and turn off the water, then soap up or shampoo up and turn the water back on to rinse off. Very fast and with as little water usage as possible. We have an orange bucket in the shower that always needs to be full because when we lose power, which happens frequently, this is the only way to wash off.

The water in the rain catchment is also our drinking water. We use a “Sawyer” water filter that takes out 99.99% of all the bad stuff. We keep water in the fridge and water in a large Igloo cooler so that we can have water if the power goes out.

The green house is our home and base in Ebeye
