Her Name is Ruth

Her Name is Ruth

James 1:27 – Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:  to look after the orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Changing Focus Ministries is an ever evolving christian non-profit organization that tries to focus on where the needs are the greatest on our little island of Ebeye in Micronesia.  We strive to be guided by the Holy Spirit and ask God to put in front of us the people who desperately need a touch from the Lord and Ruth is one of these people.

In 2019, Ruth’s husband went to the hospital for an infection that he had in a wound, 5 days later he died from that infection.  Ruth was left with her 4 children and no income, her life changed in an instant but she had the faith to know that God would provide for her.  This is where we came in and when we prayed for her we felt God tell us, “Let her need be known”.  We told some friends about her situation and God came to the rescue. He provided in ways we never imagined – paying for her 2 children’s education in a private christian school and for a new sewing machine so she could start her own small business.  Ruth was so happy and felt so blessed by God and her new friends!

When Covid-19 hit the world, we partnered with Kwajalein Atoll Government and started having face masks made by local women, even though there are no Covid-19 cases in the Marshall Islands. RMI needed to prepare for the possibly of it coming and we needed 10,000 face masks for Ebeye and the nearby islands. Ruth was able to prosper from participating in this endeavor, it was a huge blessing for her family.

Her next contract will be to focus on making reusable menstruation pads that are put together with other supplies into a kit started by Days for Girls, a non-profit that we partner with.  She is continuing to make enough money to provide for her family and she is constantly reminding me that God is good, Anij emmon!           http://www.changingfocusministries.org
